SPECIAL FEATURES
What is a Fire Evacuation Lift
A fire evacuation lift is designed with advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT). In case of fire, it sends mass messaging to building occupants, fire safety system/security team, lift operator and the nearby fire brigade. It helps firefighters reach fire-affected floors safely in minimum time. It enables the rapid evacuation of people of all ages and abilities. A fire evacuation lift is designed as per the fire lift standards. The cabin is made of non-combustible material, and all sides are enclosed with panels filled with ceramic wool. A trap door is provided on the roof for emergency exit, while the ordinary lifts have no such provision. A fire evacuation lift generally has 15-30 minutes of battery backup to combat power failure. Other evacuation devices like fire chutes do not have facilities like lowering devices. When we look at some of the fire incidents in the past, the fire chute was not successful in evacuating people of all age groups and abilities. A fire evacuation lift is necessary in high rise buildings to avoid fire incidents as such a facility can evacuate around 10 to 18 people within three minutes.
